Meet Radish the Magician – Award-Winning Children’s Magician in Surrey & South West London

Welcome to my brand-new blog! I’m Bron, though most children (and plenty of grown-ups!) know me as Radish the Magician, a popular children’s entertainer and kids’ party magician based in Surrey and South West London.If you're looking for fun, laughter, and unforgettable party magic, you’re in the right place.

Why I Became a Children’s Magician

I’ve always loved working with children. I was 14 when I started volunteering for a Brownie pack in my home town of Hull. In fact, I was part of 3 Brownie units and 4 Guide units over 15 years around the country!Over the years I’ve worked as a mentor for children in foster care, a teaching assistant supporting autistic and blind children, and a leader of groups for children of all ages through various churches.

Performing magic then allowed me to bring joy to some extraordinary spaces, including schools for children with profound and multiple learning disabilities, refugee bridging hotels, and hospitals. Creating magical moments for children has always been at the heart of what I do, and I’m lucky that I get to do that as my full time job!

How I Became a Children’s Magician

My magical journey began in 2016 when I attended the Equip, a creative arts convention using puppetry, balloons, and magic to tell stories. I fell in love instantly!I soon joined the South London Magic Society (2017) and began developing magical routines for storytelling and children’s events.

In 2019, I won the Equip Creative Arts Competition with a Christmas-themed routine. After a pause in 2020 due to Covid and the birth of my second child, I returned to magic properly in 2022 after being asked to perform at a Coronation celebration. That performance rekindled everything, and I began performing at summer fairs around Surrey before launching Radish the Magician as a children’s party entertainment brand.

Achievements & Professional Magic Credentials

After building my business, a magician friend encouraged me to apply to The Magic Circle, the world’s most prestigious magic society. I passed my exam in 2023 with the highest grade awarded by assessment:Associate Member of the Inner Magic Circle with Silver Star (AIMC with Silver Star) A huge shock, but what an honour!

Since then, I’ve earned multiple awards, including:

Most Creative Effect – South London Magic Society Close Up Competition
Runner-up for Most Entertaining Card Trick – Farnborough Association of Magical Entertainers

I also started a second magic brand – Bron Ivy Magic – for sophisticated close-up and luxury magic performances for families, weddings, and special events.

Where Did the Name ‘Radish’ Come From?

The name came from a pair of brightly coloured radish-print trousers I bought from Swedish brand Duns, and the name just stuck! Not all origin stories make a good Marvel film!
